Frequently Asked Questions

What is Included in a Neuropsychological Assessment?

A neuropsychological assessment evaluates cognitive functions such as memory, attention, problem-solving, language, and executive functioning. The assessment typically includes:

  • Clinical Interview: An in-depth discussion about your medical, psychological, and personal history.

  • Standardized Tests: A series of tests designed to measure various cognitive abilities.

  • Feedback Session: A follow-up session to discuss the results, diagnosis, and recommendations.

  • Comprehensive Report: A detailed written report outlining findings, diagnoses, and suggested interventions or treatments.

What technology do I need for a telehealth evaluation?

You will need a device with a camera and microphone (such as a computer or tablet), a stable internet connection, and access to the secure video conferencing and testing platforms provided. Detailed instructions will be sent to you before your appointment.

Is telehealth neuropsychology as effective as in-person evaluations?

Yes, telehealth neuropsychological evaluations are just as effective as in-person evaluations. They use the same standardized tests and procedures, with the added benefit of convenience and safety. The remote format allows for a thorough assessment without the need for travel.

  • To ensure the evaluation goes smoothly, consider the following preparation tips:

Rest Well: Get a good night’s sleep before the assessment to ensure you’re well-rested and alert.

Gather Documentation: Have any relevant medical records or previous assessments available.

Create a Quiet Environment: Choose a quiet, well-lit location for your evaluation, free from distractions.

Technical Check: Ensure your computer or device is functioning properly and that you have a stable internet connection.

  • Insurance Acceptance Policy: I accept Medicare, but I do not accept other insurance plans directly for payment.

Superbill for Reimbursement: After your evaluation, I will provide a Superbill, which is a detailed invoice that includes all relevant information about your visit, including the CPT codes for the services provided.

Submitting for Reimbursement: You can submit this Superbill to your insurance company to request reimbursement. They will use the CPT codes to determine how much they will reimburse you for the services.

Reimbursement Information: Please contact your insurance company to find out the reimbursement rates for the CPT codes on your Superbill, as well as details about coverage and hours.

  • The cost of neuropsychological services varies depending on the type of assessment. I encourage you to contact me directly to discuss fees and find the best option for your specific needs. To make my services accessible, I offer sliding scale options based on individual circumstances.

    Payment Policy:
Payment is required at the time of booking and covers all aspects of the evaluation, including testing, analysis, and the final report.

  • Fees and Rescheduling Policy:

Refunds: All fees are fully refundable if canceled within 24 hours of booking, except for any credit card processing fees.

Rescheduling: You can reschedule your appointment at no charge if you give at least 72 hours notice.

Late Rescheduling: If you need to reschedule within 72 hours of your appointment and I cannot fill the slot with another client, a $175 rescheduling fee will be charged.

  • Typically, patients may need to pay out-of-network costs for cognitive evaluations, even with insurance coverage through a PPO plan. Most private practices require payment at the time of service and provide a Superbill for clients to submit to their insurance company for potential reimbursement.

Finding an in-network provider can be challenging, as these clinics often have longer wait times, sometimes up to six months. My private practice aims to offer more timely access to evaluations and reduce the waiting period for patients.

  • Consider sharing your neuropsychological evaluation report with the following professionals involved in your care:

Primary Care Physicians: Your primary care doctor can integrate the insights from your report into your overall health management.

Specialists: Neurologists, psychiatrists, or other specialists involved in your treatment can use the detailed information to tailor their approach and improve your care.

Therapists and Counselors: Psychologists, counselors, or therapists can develop more effective therapeutic interventions based on the report's findings.

Sharing your report with these healthcare professionals ensures a comprehensive understanding of your condition and enhances the coordination and effectiveness of your overall treatment strategy.

Disclaimer for Good Faith Estimate for Cash Pay and Out-of-Network Patients

Under Section 2799B-6 of the Public Health Service Act, health care providers and facilities must inform individuals who are not enrolled in a health plan or Federal health care program, or those not seeking reimbursement from their plan, of their right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” (GFE) of expected charges. This estimate outlines the anticipated costs for services provided by Woven based on information available at the time it was created.

Please be aware that the GFE does not account for any potential reimbursement from out-of-network benefits and does not include unexpected costs that may arise during treatment. Additional charges may apply if complications or special circumstances occur.

If you receive a bill that exceeds the Good Faith Estimate, you have the right to dispute the charge. Please contact me to address any discrepancies. You can request an adjustment to the bill to match the GFE, negotiate the charges, or inquire about financial assistance options.
